BOOZE NEWS

July 2005

Dear Prayer Team,

July 17 is fast approaching when we board the KLM plane and head for our adventure in Africa!

We need extra prayer as we are making the final preparations for departure. Packing decisions are alwyas difficult for me as I nearly always take too much stuff and we need every bit of spare room to take the 125 donated Bibles! Thes will be a BIG HIT as Bibles are very expensive and not readily available.

Our schedule is very packed and we will be doing a lot of driving, not only between cities, but also between countries! SAFETY on the road is always a need for prayer as is availability of fuel.

The team will consist of just two couples for this trip so we expect to have some excellent "bonding" with Larry & Laura. Please pray that we will remain transparent and our communication will be clear.

The response to our financial needs for this particular mission trip has been beyond our expectations - "Oh, ye of little faith!" We still have no idea as to how much money we will need for travel once we are in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe. Getting more money to us will be next to impossible once we are there so we must take along what we "think" will be enough. More Prayer.

M
inistry wise here in the U.S. we continue to see God open new doors of opportunity. I have been asked to join Dr. Harold Westing in St. Louis to observe him doing a church consultation after we return from our Africa trip. This should be excellent training for me! We will try to combine this with our return trip to Wisconsin, Nebraska and Colorado.

PLEASE PRAY

i Good health as we travel.
i Spiritual fruit in every city.
i Virginia to have effective ministry with Pastor's wives and the children.
i Grace and Favor with every pastor and church leader.
i No problems at border crossings & police check-points.

I
n 2 Samuel 22 & 23  David's song of praise to the Lord is recorded.  What is interesting is the way the "tone" of his words change from Chapter 22 to Chapter 23.  The song in chapter 22 is from early in his life as he was in battle and seeing the Lord give him victory after victory.

Then it happened, he sinned with Bathsheba and his life began a gradual spiritual descent.  His words in Chapter 23 reveal a man with a different perspective.  He says this of the Lord:  "for He has made an everlasting covenant with me...will He not indeed make it grow?"    His boasting of earlier days is not seen here, but rather a looking to the Lord to fulfill His covenant.  Victory is in the past and so is such boasting in the Lord.

How is your own walk with Him?  Are you boasting of current victory through the power of the Holy spirit or looking back with a longing to see Him work once more?
