MALAWI - 2003

This "Project" was to replace the grass roof of the widow woman's house. The entire village turned out to help as seen in the final photo.

The "rest of the story" is that one month after we completed the roof a strong storm raged through the village.  Every roof was blown off their homes, with one exception- the one we constructed.  Many of the village people accused the widow of practicing "magic" or having some secret powers.  She simply told her accusers; "The white men said that the house would fall in before the roof would be damaged."  

Our last contact with someone from the village was in April 2004.  We have been asked back so we can provide Bibles in their language and perhaps do another "project".  This is truly amazing in light of the fact that the entire village is Muslim in their belief.
